Dr. Kimberly's Favorite Electrolyte Drink Recipe

June 28, 20262 min read

Most of my patients age 55 and older are dehydrated.

As we age, our sense of thirst decreases, many medications can increase fluid loss, and it’s simply easier to become dehydrated without realizing it.

Dehydration can contribute to:

  • Constipation

  • Kidney Stones

  • Urinary Tract Infections

  • Fatigue

  • Dizziness or Confusion

  • Joint Pain

  • Increased Heart Rate

  • Headaches

  • Poor Digestion

This recipe is easy, delicious, and soooo good for you!

Ingredients

  • 1 pint of water

  • Juice of ½ fresh lemon

  • 1–3 teaspoons honey

  • 1 healthy pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Squeeze the lemon.

  • Measure the honey and sea salt.

Combine and Heat

  • Place the water, lemon juice, honey, and salt into a small saucepan.

  • Warm just enough for the honey to dissolve completely. Stir well.

Divide and Store

  • Pour into pint-sized mason jars.

  • Allow to cool before sealing with lids.

Chill and Serve

  • Refrigerate.

  • This drink will keep for up to one week.

  • When you’re ready for a refreshing drink, simply grab a jar from the refrigerator and enjoy.

Notes

Serving Size:
Make as many servings as you’d like. I typically make six at a time.

Storage:
Store in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Convenience:
I love using pint-sized mason jars because they’re easy to grab when I’m heading out the door.

This simple electrolyte drink is a delicious way to stay hydrated and support your body’s natural balance.

Enjoy!

A quick note:If you have kidney disease, congestive heart failure, or have been instructed by your physician to limit sodium or fluids, check with your healthcare provider before adding electrolyte drinks to your daily routine.
